Navigating the Winter Blues
Recent weeks have felt less than cheerful, with the holiday season accentuating personal challenges. The lack of familial connections due to divorce has left a void, especially when my sons chose not to acknowledge me. It's a hurtful mystery I may never solve. During such times, a small act, like dressing well, can lift my spirits. A sunny day in New England inspired me to don my favorite concert shirt, a comfortable camp collar piece. Black fingernails, a look borrowed from a fashion-forward colleague at J. Crew, offer a touch of identity, drawing positive attention from Gen Z, the style-conscious generation.
The Sobriety Journey
While I celebrated my 42nd year alcohol-freedom in December, I reflect on what a surprise my addictive tendency has been—never saw it coming. But individual pathways like mine affirm that ethanol cessation is paramount for thriving post-addiction.
A Magical Concert Night
In July, a series of concerts featuring Phish and Third Eye Blind provided more than music; they brought unexpected connections. At the Xfinity Center, amidst the vibrant crowd, I encountered a young usher whose unmistakable light in her eyes sparked a conversation. Although her interest was fleeting once my age was revealed, the brief connection rekindled forgotten feelings of youthful emotion. Despite the unlikely nature of our interaction, it stirred dreams long dormant.
